So people are saying I’m pretty geeky, I never considered myself a geek, because I don’t know much about all the technical stuff or programming. But mere presence on the web, the use of new media platforms, the curiosity and hunger for finding new possibilities to get a message across, vlogging, being on twitter and of course making streaming video full time, apparently also qualifies as geeky. So I’m all of those things above and I like to share my life with my online friends, imagine how happy I was to run into somebody who was just like me… And who was willing to participate in streaming our first date and let people interact through twitter.
I made a video telling people what we were going to do, and people were immediately interested. I think everybody needs a soap-opera once in a while. Gabe had asked his tweeps for good restaurants and send me the location through a link to goolgemaps which he send to me through twitter. At the restaurant we were streaming live through Bambuser with Gabe’s phone. @rotjong put up a website with our twitterfeeds coming in, @yizmo favorized all our tweets and other people’s comments so we have a cool archive now. Tweets were coming in from people not wanting to leave the office because they didn’t want to miss the beginning of the date, or that they had let their food gone cold. They loved it. And so did we. So nice not to have to explain to somebody what’s so great about twitter, and the whole online experience. It was an awesome date.
